We offer the metal insulated panel mainly for the construction of industrial buildings (factories, laboratories, logistics, cold rooms, stables, warehouses...), however the corrugated metal insulated panel can also be used in residential buildings. Certainly not in any situation, for example in the specific case of historic centers, where the traditional tiles roofing is protected by the strict landscape and urban planning regulations of the municipal regulations, but in all other cases it is to be taken seriously. The reasons are different, the first to consider is the advantage of simplifying and lightening the roof (reducing the elements that make up the roof).
We compared the installation and supply costs of tiles with an insulated metal panel. We take into consideration a roof of 400 square meters with a rectangular plan and pitch of 10.42 meters in length, with a slope of less than 30% and laying the covering over a reinforced concrete floor or a wooden boarding. The difference in weight went from 55/57 kg./mq (tiles and clay roof tiles) to 12 kg / m2 (sandwich panel), while the reduction in the installation cost was 40%. The second is to have thermal insulation and rainwater protection in a single "package".
Using the insulated metal panel we could have two conditions. The first, which we will call "hot roof" when the thermal insulation layer is present but under-roof ventilation is not present (simpler and cheaper solution). Or, the second, a sandwich panel covering with a thermal insulating element and a ventilation layer called the "ventilated roof" which provides, from a hygrometric point of view, the best guarantees of good operation because thanks to the under roof ventilation, with the consequent chimney effect of the air that escapes through the ridge allows the elimination of humidity and therefore the healthiness of the mantle, reducing maintenance costs and optimizing insulation performance. Certainly, this second solution, slightly more complex, achievable with insulated metal panels, requires a preliminary project and a skill that all professionals qualified in the construction sector know.
Finally, the aesthetic value, modern architecture uses the advantages of corrugated elements to compose interesting geometries in the facades of buildings, and if we really don't like the corrugated panel, there is also the pre-insulated metal panel in the shape of a tile: SUPERCOPPO (antiqued version in photo) produced in the factories of Villafranca Tirrena and Arezzo.
